Therapy for the ones who are used to doing it all on their own.

You may not look like you’re struggling, but internally, it’s a different story.

You’re responsible. Capable. The one people rely on.
You’ve figured out how to get things done, push through, and keep showing up, even when it’s hard.

But lately, something feels off.

Maybe your mind won’t slow down.
Maybe you feel constantly “on edge” or overwhelmed.
Maybe you’re successful… but exhausted.

You might even wonder: If I’m doing so well, why does it feel like this?

This is where we start.

A warm, welcoming therapy space in San Diego where individuals and families receive support through EMDR, emotionally focused therapy, ADHD coaching, and parenting guidance at Therapy in Bloom.

Hi, I’m Maria Anguiano

I work with people who are really good at holding things together, but quietly feel like it’s starting to take too much out of them.

People who are high-achieving, thoughtful, responsible… and often exhausted in ways they can’t quite explain.

I understand how easy it is to keep going and assume you should be able to handle it all.

But I also know what happens when you finally get a space where you don’t have to.

My work is about helping you feel more at home in yourself again, your thoughts, your emotions, your nervous system, all of it.

Not by pushing harder.
But by finally understanding what’s been happening inside.

    Individual Thearapy

I offer individual therapy for adults who want support with ADHD, trauma, stress, burnout, or the challenges of high-achieving lives. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and practical—you’ll get real tools to manage stress, regulate your nervous system, and create balance in your daily life. Parenting Sessions

In my parenting sessions, we work together to make things at home feel a little lighter and more connected. We explore your child’s emotions, talk through your challenges, and build strategies that fit your family’s rhythm. You’ll get support, clarity, and encouragement as you learn how to guide your child with both warmth and confidence.

    Emotionally Focused Couple's Therapy (EFCT)

In couples therapy with me, we look at patterns, nervous-system responses, and the emotions that sit underneath conflict. I help you communicate in a way that feels safe and grounded, so both partners feel heard instead of overwhelmed. My style is warm, kind, and steady—helping you rebuild connection, compassion, and trust at a pace that feels manageable for both of you.

    Supervision

I provide supervision for clinicians in California who are working toward licensure as MFTs (Marriage and Family Therapists) or LPCCs (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors). My supervision is influenced by Attachment theory, EMDR, with a strong focus on nervous-system regulation, psychoeducation, and building confidence in your clinical skills. Whether you’re navigating challenging cases, seeking guidance in trauma-informed care, or looking to strengthen your approach with ADHD, couples, or parenting clients, our sessions provide a warm, supportive space to reflect, learn, and grow. My goal is to help you feel more confident, capable, and prepared to provide thoughtful, effective care to your clients.

  • EMDR Therapy

    EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps your brain heal from painful or overwhelming experiences. It uses guided eye movements, tapping, or alternating sounds to help those memories feel less intense and easier to live with.

FAQs

Do you take insurance for therapy sessions?

1

I am in-network with Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, Managed Health Network (MHN), Kaiser Northern California (including Medi-Cal), and Centivo. Insurance coverage can vary depending on your specific plan, so I recommend checking your outpatient mental health benefits. I also offer private pay sessions at $175 per session for clients who prefer to pay out of pocket or are not using insurance. I’m happy to help you understand your options and what may work best for you.

Can therapy help if I think I might have ADHD as an adult?

2

Yes. Many adults come to therapy wondering if ADHD may be part of their experience, especially when they notice ongoing challenges with focus, organization, overwhelm, or emotional regulation despite being high-functioning. In therapy, we gently explore attention patterns and executive functioning in a supportive, non-judgmental way, focusing on understanding how your brain works and what helps you feel more supported, whether or not you have a formal diagnosis.

Do you offer online therapy in California, or in-person sessions?

3

I offer both online therapy for clients anywhere in California and in-person sessions in San Diego (La Mesa). Online therapy can be especially helpful for high-functioning adults with busy schedules, while in-person sessions offer a grounded, in-office space for deeper support.

How do I know if therapy is right for me if I’m still functioning well?

4

Many people who come to therapy don’t feel like they are “struggling enough.” They are working, taking care of responsibilities, and managing life on the outside, but internally they feel anxious, overwhelmed, or exhausted. Therapy can still be helpful even if you are functioning well, in fact, many people seek support because they notice stress, burnout, or anxiety starting to take up more space than they want it to. You don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable to get support.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we keep things light and easy. We’ll chat about what’s bringing you in, what kind of support you’re looking for, and any questions you have (insurance included!). It’s a calm, pressure free conversation to see if we’re a good fit and to help you feel more confident about starting therapy.
